Overview
Use this procedure to update the ROMMON and IOS XE images simultaneously. This process ensures the device supports new hardware features and maintains critical software dependencies across the platform.
Perform a software upgrade
Use this procedure when both ROMMON and IOS need to be updated, such as when introducing new hardware features or addressing critical software dependencies.
Procedure
To upgrade the ROMMON and IOS at the same time, perform the steps given below:
| 1. | Copy the XE image to the router and configure the boot system to point to the new image. |
|
| 2. | Copy the ROMMON package to the router and perform the ROMMON upgrade. |
|
| 3. | Reload the router and verify that it boots to the IOS prompt on the new XE image. |
|
| 4. | Verify that the new ROMMON image was successfully installed using a show platform. |
The router operates with the new ROMMON and XE images.
