SONiC on Cisco 8000 Series Routers, Release 202405cz.2.3.0

Cisco SONiC Release 202405cz.2.3.0 introduces support for Support for IPv6 Virtual Tunnel End Point, Upstream Validation Support for VXLAN EVPN with Multi-Host, and Upstream Validation for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Feature Set. This release enhances the SONiC platform on Cisco 8000 Series routers by improving software reliability and API integration.

Known Issues

Description

Express Reboot and Log Rotation Timer Coincidence

In an intermittent timing condition where the log rotation timer expiry exactly coincides with the Express Reboot process, the dockers may perform a cold reboot instead of an express reboot.

To prevent this, restart the log rotation timer before the Express Reboot command is triggered.

Intermittent Traffic Loss During Express Reboot

During express reboot, in rare scenarios, a few traffic streams may experience a loss of more than one second. This occurs just after node boots up after express reboot. The system automatically recovers these flows within a few seconds without requiring manual intervention.

Missing MAC in Dataplane During Route Churn

During an intermittent condition with significant route churn, a MAC address may be present in the control plane but missing in the dataplane, causing L2 traffic to be handled as BUM traffic instead of unicast.

To resolve this, execute the command vtysh -c "clear bgp l2vpn evpn <neighbor address>".
