Introduction
This document describes the end-of-life (EOL) of the Umbrella Roaming Client and provides guidance for migrating to Cisco Secure Client.
Overview
Cisco is announcing major changes to Umbrella Roaming Client software and providing advance notice to help you plan and transition smoothly. All Umbrella Roaming Client functionality is available in Cisco Secure Client, which is now the unified security agent for Cisco Secure.
Background
- The Umbrella Roaming Client has provided DNS security and policy-based protection, including intelligent proxy features.
- Due to third-party software compatibility limitations, Cisco has recommended migrating to Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client since 2022.
- Cisco Secure Client now replaces Cisco AnyConnect as the new unified security agent and includes all Umbrella Roaming Client capabilities.
- Cisco has already announced the end-of-life for Cisco AnyConnect.

Migration and Entitlement
- Customers with valid licenses and active Umbrella support contracts are eligible to migrate to Cisco Secure Client for the Umbrella Roaming Security Module at no additional cost.
- No additional charges for migrating or using the current version if you are entitled to Cisco Umbrella, either directly or through another Cisco service (including AnyConnect).
