End-of-life for AnyConnect Client Version 4.x

Introduction

This document describes the end-of-life for Cisco AnyConnect Client version 4.x.

Overview

Cisco announces the end-of-life dates for the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 4.x software.

Software maintenance support for AnyConnect 4.x ended on March 31, 2024. No patches or maintenance releases can be provided for AnyConnect 4.x releases after that date. 

Software maintenance support for the Umbrella roaming security module for AnyConnect 4.x also ended on this date.

What to expect

After March 31, 2024, Cisco Umbrella provided no updates of any type  for AnyConnect 4.x. 

Cisco Umbrella continues to support automatic cloud-distributed updates for AnyConnect 4.x until the final release. After the final maintenance release, a one-time cloud update is available to the current Secure Client 5.0 version. As always, cloud-distributed updates of AnyConnect are opt-in. 

Product migration options

Customers are encouraged to migrate to the current version, now known as Cisco Secure Client. All customers with valid AnyConnect / Secure Client term licenses or perpetual licenses with active support contracts are eligible to upgrade to the current release at no charge. There is no additive charge to adopt the current version of Cisco Secure Client for any customer who is entitled to utilize AnyConnect either directly, or indirectly through another purchased Cisco service which includes use of the client for that use case. This includes most Cisco Umbrella packages.
