Encountering the error "java.sql.SQLTimeoutException: The query has timed out." when executing a query in the Splunk DB Connect Input.

Encountering the error "java.sql.SQLTimeoutException: The query has timed out." when executing a query in the Splunk DB Connect Input.

Investigation

1. Navigate to Splunk DB Connect > Datalab page
2. Create or Edit existing input.
 - Create Input
    - Click on New Input.
    - Configure connection, schema and select table from which you want to ingest the data
    - Enter the query in Query box and execute sql
 - Existing Input
    - Click on Edit for already created input
    - Click on Execute Sql
Received below error:

java.sql.SQLTimeoutException: The query has timed out.

Generally this error occurs when the operation did not finish or the server is unresponsive due to a timeout period being exceeded. 

Resolution

To resolve this issue Increase the query timeout according to the query and data to be fetched and then try to execute sql , will resolve the issue.

Steps to increase Query Timeout:
1. Navigate to Splunk DB Connect > Datalab page
2. Create or Edit existing input.
3. Edit QueryTimeout parameter on the right panel according to your requirement.
