Prerequisites
Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this document.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
- Cisco Power Cube 3 - This power cube uses a standard Cisco Unified IP Phone power pupply for non-Power over Ethernet (PoE) deployments. It is required to daisy chain two units together.
- Daisy chain cable - Daisy chain cable (18 ft).
- IP Phone model - CP-8831-3PD-K9=, CP-8831-3PD-EU-K9=, CP-8831-3PD-J-K9=, CP-8831-3PD-LA-K9=, and so on.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Background Information
A daisy chain is a back-to-back connection of two 8831 conference phones for expanded room coverage. Such a deployment is useful in large boardrooms.
Note: In CallManager, only the primary phone needs to be configured and it should be registered. However, the secondary phone is not added to CallManager.
Daisy chain works only with an external power supply. Ensure that the PoE on the interface for the IP Phone is disabled.
