This document explains why edits are ignored when the composite_server.sh file is modified to alter the way the server starts. This behavior is seen in Cisco Information Server (CIS) Version 7.0 and later.
In CIS Version 7.0 and later, the monitor daemon forks a child process that becomes the server process, and no longer calls the /bin/composite_server.sh file (or .bat file if on Microsoft Windows) in order to launch a server process.
You can still manually run the composite_server.sh script if you need to start a server alone in the foreground without running a monitor daemon. However, this is typically done in order to troubleshoot and test and is not for normal use.
