This document describes best practices for procedure caching in the Cisco Information Server (CIS).
Maximum Number of Cache Variants
In procedure caching, the number of cache variants can be as high as 99,999,999.
The number of variants stored is only limited by your cache platform, whether it is a file or a database table.
If you use a database, consider the communication speed to your cache whether you write to disk or read from the index. Also consider the extra overhead if your database-type cache target is remote, which requires network throughput.
