Cisco Webex Edge Audio

Reduce PSTN costs and get wideband audio

With Webex Edge Audio you can decouple the public switched telephone network (PSTN) from Webex by intelligently changing the call routing to a simple-to-deploy on-network path.

For Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CM) registered devices, Webex Edge Audio creates a VoIP path, whether users are dialing in or requesting a callback.  For non-Unified CM registered phones or mobile devices, the company’s own PSTN services can be used.

Features of Cisco Webex Edge Audio

Decreased PSTN costs

Webex Edge Audio democratizes savings and improves audio quality. Customers can leverage their existing Cisco Unified CM environment to manage their calls, or can continue to use Webex PSTN or a cloud-connected audio provider.

Enhanced quality

For Unified CM registered devices, Webex Edge Audio creates an end-to-end VoIP path, whether users are dialing in or requesting Webex callback. This path provides all the benefits of high-quality wideband codecs that Webex offers.

No change in user behavior

Webex Edge Audio lets participants automatically join a Webex meeting via a direct VoIP route to the Webex cloud or via their existing PSTN services, with no change in behavior.

Flexible on- and off-network deployment

Webex Edge Audio lets customers choose the on-network path in locations where they can save on PSTN. It also allows them to buy off-network minutes in locations where they do not have an on-premises or Unified CM deployment.
