Cisco® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series/7600 Series Supervisor Engine 720-3A (WS-Sup720) and CEF720 Distributed Forwarding Engine DFC3A (WS-F6700-DFC3A). The last day to order the affected product(s) is December 18, 2009. This End of Sale announcement does NOT affect Supervisor Engine 720-3B/BXL and Virtual Switch Supervisor Engine 720-10G.
Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1. Tables 3 to 5 provide recommended upgrade options for both hardware and software
Customers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720-3B, Supervisor Engine 720-3BXL or Catalyst 6500 Series Virtual Switching Supervisor 720 with 10GE uplinks
. The
Supervisor Engine 720 supports advanced features such as IPv6, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Encapsulated Remote Switched Port Analyzer (ERSPAN), and so on in hardware.
The Cisco® Catalyst® 6500 Series Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 with 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks combine high-density uplinks, system virtualization, and increased throughput with scalable performance and a rich IP feature set. This supervisor is a key component of the Cisco VSS 1440 Virtual Switching System and enables high availability, operational efficiency, and increased bandwidth with great ease of deployment.
Software End of Life bulletins available for (Hybrid OS) and (CatOS) apply to Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series/7600 Series Supervisor Engine 720-3A.
