This document describes the Smart License Reservation for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version 12.5.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, ensure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Specific License Reservation feature is for devices that cannot or will not connect to Tools.cisco.com or CSSM portal. This licensing feature allows the customer to reserve licenses from their virtual account, tie them to a devices UDI and use their device with these reserved licenses in a disconnected mode.
This feature is available on through CLI, there is no GUI option available as of now.
This is the procedure to enable Smart License Reservation Feature :
Step 1. The device is not connected to the internet and is in the unregistered state.
Step 2. Use the CLI to enable the feature and get a License Reservation request code.
Step 7. If you need to get more license for your product instance, you can do it from the CSSM portal to update the reserved license and get a new authorisation code.

Note: De-register of product instance will not work in case of Smart License Reservation Feature. You can always return the license using below command depending on the scenarios:
If you have already installed the authorization code on CUCM then use,
admin:license smart reservation return
This command removes the license reservation authorization code and the device will transition back to the unregistered state. Some features may not function properly. Are you sure you wish to continue (Y/N)
