Bias-Free Language
The documentation set for this product strives to use bias-free language. For the purposes of this documentation set, bias-free is defined as language that does not imply discrimination based on age, disability, gender, racial identity, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality. Exceptions may be present in the documentation due to language that is hardcoded in the user interfaces of the product software, language used based on RFP documentation, or language that is used by a referenced third-party product. This document describes sample data that can be used to test Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies in order to confirm that they work as intended.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have the DLP feature key installed and in use.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
ESA that runs AsyncOS 11.x or later.
DLP engine 1.0.18.d7b4601 or later (can be obtained with the dlpstatus command from the CLI).
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, ensure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Examples
In order to utilize the sample data, complete these steps:
Create the DLP policy (for example, American Banking Association (ABA) Routing Numbers) and attach it to an Outgoing Mail Policy.
Choose Submit > Commit in order to commit the changes.
Send an email through the ESA which hits the newly created DLP policy on the Outgoing Mail Policy it was applied to. The test email must include the sample data, which can be placed in the body (for example, ABA Routing Number: 800000080).
Review the mail logs or Message Tracking in order to confirm that a DLP violation had occurred.
