FAQ for Existing Customers as of January 8, 2020 Regarding New AMP for Endpoints Packages

What changes are being announced for AMP for Endpoints?

Cisco is announcing the availability of new packages of AMP for Endpoints as of January 8, 2020. The product, which you are entitled to as an existing customer as of January 8, 2020, will be known as AMP for Endpoints Essentials and a new package called AMP for Endpoints Advantage is being launched, which includes a new threat hunting capability called Orbital Advanced Search.

What does this mean to me as an existing customer as of January 8, 2020?

As an existing customer of AMP for Endpoints you retain all the features and capabilities you have today and you get access to the new Orbital Advanced Search feature at no charge until the end of your current license period.

Do I need to do anything to keep using AMP for Endpoints as it was before the launch of the new packages?

No. The current version of AMP for Endpoints you’re using will not change. You will continue to get access to all the features and capabilities you’re using today. In addition to the current features you are using today, we are making Orbital Advanced Search available to you, at no charge, for the remainder of your current license period.

Why am I being asked to enroll in Orbital?

Orbital Advanced Search is a new advanced threat hunting capability which is available in the AMP for Endpoints Advantage package. As an existing customer (as of January 8, 2020) of AMP for Endpoints, you are entitled to AMP for Endpoints Essentials, however we are making Orbital Advanced Search available to you, at no charge, for the remainder of your license period. This means you can access this capability without having to upgrade to AMP for Endpoints Advantage.

You can enroll to access this advanced capability from the License Information option under the Accounts menu. This guide will show you how to enable Orbital and start using it.

How can I start using Orbital Advanced Search?

Once you enroll to access this feature on the License Information page, you will need to update to the latest version of the Windows Connector (minimum version required 7.1.5) to start using Orbital Advanced Search. You also need to enable this feature in a policy. This guide will show you how to enable Orbital and start using it.

How is the new Advantage package different from what I’m using today?

How long do I get to use Orbital Advanced Search as an existing customer?

As an existing customer at the time of launch (as of January 8, 2020) you have the option to enroll and get access to Orbital Advanced Search, at no charge, for the remainder of your current license period. At the end of your current license period you will need to upgrade to AMP for Endpoints Advantage to continue to get access to Orbital Advanced Search. The Advantage package comes with other benefits and allows an organization to select the right package that best fits your needs.
