Description

Dashboard Studio DB is showing 12:00AM time on X-axis for a months long bar chart,  showing also some grouping of events over several months. Most users just see the month and the year in the x-axis as expected for _time (as it should show), but other users are seeing the month, year, and also a time of 12:00AM on X-axis.

Investigation

Even when the 'Number of Time Label Parts' is set to 2 ( year and month) in the affected dashboard's settings under the X-axis grid and labels section, the issue persists, confirming it as a known issue.

1 = year
2 = year and month
3 = year, month, and time


Resolution

Some users are seeing different time formats due to having different serializedTimeszone, and that is causing a different timezone offset in @splunk/visualizations(@splunk/charting) – leading to different inconsistent time formatting behaviors - showing 12:00am vs. not showing. 

It's currently expected behavior.
