DB connect task server is not getting started due to RPC port issue

Applicability

Splunk Enterprise Splunk Add and Addons

Description

It was found that the same RPC port is being used for the DB Task server as well as for DB Query server so the port was changed for the query server and restarted the Splunk service and it worked.


Investigation

For example: if you use 9998 for task server as well as for query server, DB Connect task server will fail, will need to use 9999 port for Query server to work db connect app.

You can use other port as well if 9998 or 9999 is being used by other applications on server.


Resolution

Changed the port for the query server and restarted the Splunk service and it worked.
