Description

DB Connect has communication task server error after installing db connect 3.9.0
JDBC drivers were installed correctly and the Java version ( V#1.8 ) was also installed and configured properly
 

Investigation

Reviewed the following:

  • Checked Java and found its 1.8.0.333
  • Found JDBC drivers ( Mssql )are installed from Splunk base
  • JAVA_HOME was also set up and tried to removed it as well
  • Tried to remove JAVA_HOME as well but no luck
  • DB installed on windows OS


As per the following error

ERROR com.splunk.dbx.server.TaskServer - action=unable_to_start_server^Morg.glassfish.hk2.api.MultiException: A MultiException has 4 exceptions.  They are:com.splunk.dbx.server.exception.CheckpointFilePermissionException: Checkpoint directory: F:\SplunkData\Indexes\modinputs\server\splunk_app_db_connect encounters permission error.


Issue is related to user permissions


Resolution

Providing full permission Read/write/execute to Splunk user which starts Splunk on the below path and restarted the splunk service.

Path : F:\SplunkData\Indexes\modinputs\server\splunk_app_db_connect
