missioncontrol & other apps not passing the python scan in Upgrade Readiness App (URA)

Applicability

Description

Internal Python Readiness Alert firing despite it being up to date showing errors like the following:

This app is not compatible with Python 3

File path designates Python 2 library
File path contains an outdated Python SDK
Update to the latest Python SDK

Investigation

Resolution

a. Upgrade to URA 4.3.0

On-prem:
Self-install the latest version of URA from Splunkbase

Cloud:
URA is an app that comes embedded with Splunk so in order to update it, a complete Splunk upgrade should be performed
Splunk Lindt Tock (9.1.2312.20x) is the one that comes with the current latest URA version (4.3.0) 

As per Upgrade Readiness App 5483 "Release Notes" the following fixes are implemented:

b. There's a workaround mentioned in other articles with similar or almost the same behavior where this is caused by an outdated version of splunkbaseapps.csv where since apps aren't listing the updated or correct version, it fails the scan; therefore, a manual update can be triggered by running the following command:

/opt/splunk/bin/splunk cmd python /opt/splunk/etc/apps/python_upgrade_readiness_app/bin/pura_get_all_apps.py

**Must be run from all nodes since each node's instance of URA maintains its own copy
**Ensure that the update was successful by looking at the logs in $SPLUNK_HOME/var/log/splunk/pura_get_all_apps.log
