After upgrading to version 9.0, the Python Upgrade Readiness App can be removed from the environment.
The Upgrade Readiness App (URA) on Splunkbase is for ON-PREM ENVIRONMENTS ONLY.
Use the Upgrade Readiness App is to prepare your deployment for upgrade to Python 3, jQuery 3.5, and Splunk version 9.0. This app can scan Splunk apps installed on Splunk Enterprise version 7.3 and higher and Splunk Cloud Platform 8.2.2107 and higher.
On January 1, 2020, Python version 2.x was officially deprecated by the Python Software Foundation. Python packages and tools have ended or are ending support for Python 2, and new Python packages don't support Python 2. This does not impair Splunk's ability to provide support for Splunk Cloud and Splunk Enterprise, including Python 2.7. The Splunk Platform Upgrade Readiness App is a tool for assisting with transition between Python 2 and Python 3.
