CSCwn97632 | PHY Retimer Device Firmware Integrate to v1.5.9 |
Some Cisco Network Convergence System 57C1 Series Routers may be unable to establish a link on certain random 1G ports. This impact may be observed if the router is running a release of Cisco IOS XR Software earlier than Release 25.1.1.
Cisco analyzed the failed units from the field, and the error was attributed to a setting in the 1G port re-timer, which was not set within the optimal range. This led to the port exhibiting a link down condition.
If the show ipv4 interface brief command output shows the Gigabit Ethernet Down status as Down, as shown in the following example, check the How to Identify Affected Products section of this Field Notice to confirm whether you are impacted:

Solution
To determine if a product is affected, see the How to identify Affected Products section of this Field Notice. If the device output does not match the output in that section, upgrade to Cisco IOS XR Software Release 25.1.1, which is the fixed release. If you are running a release that is older than the fixed release, you may choose to install an SMU (Software Maintenance Upgrade) as shown in the following table:
Cisco IOS XR Release | SMU | SMU Type |
---|---|---|
IOS XR Release 7.10.2 |
ncs5700-7.10.2.CSCwn97632.tar | Reload |
IOS XR Release 7.11.21 | ncs5700-7.11.21.CSCwn97632.tar | Reload |
IOS XR Release 24.2.21 | ncs5700-24.2.21.CSCwn97632.tar | Reload |
IOS XR Release 24.4.2 | ncs5700-24.4.2.CSCwn97632.tar | Reload |
Customers with devices that are affected as shown in the How to Identify Affected Products section of this Field Notice and that are running a Cisco IOS XR Software release that does not have an SMU for CSCwn97632 may request an SMU. To do so, open a case with the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and share your preferred IOS XR Release.
To check which firmware version is running on the Cisco NCS 57C1 Series Routers, run the following command. If the output command shows a value of 0x010509 or higher, as shown in the following example, an update is not needed.

If the output command shows a value that is lower than 0x010509, implement the fix that is detailed in the Workaround/Solution section of this Field Notice.
