Problem Description


Cable Modems (CMs) inside AP1572s fail to connect to the headend Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS). 


Background


AIR-AP1572 includes a built-in CM. CMs have DOCSIS or Euro-DOCSIS certificates. There are three certificates per CM:

  • DOCSIS or Euro-DOCSIS ROOT Certificate
  • CableLabs or Manufacturer’s Device Certificate
  • Individual Device Certificate (tied to the cable MAC address)

If a Manufacturer's Certificate is not marked TRUSTED and the certificate expires, all modems which use that Manufacturer's Certificate that subsequently go offline and reregister will be marked reject(pk) and not be in service.


Problem Symptom


If you use Cisco CMTS, refer to the related Cable Modems and Expiring Manufacturer Certificates on cBR-8 Product Bulletin.

If you use non-Cisco CMTS, contact your vendor for instructions on how to address expired certificate issues.


Workaround/Solution


If you use Cisco CMTS, follow the instructions in the Cable Modems and Expiring Manufacturer Certificates on cBR-8 Product Bulletin in order to update the list of trusted certificates.

If you use non-Cisco CMTS, contact your vendor for instructions on how to address expired certificate issues.
