Problem Description

On the network server, installing platform patch AP.platform.22.0.1123.ap372024 without installing the corresponding server patch AP.ns.22.0.1123.ap372024 results in the NSPortal web application failing to start.

The error can be seen in the /var/broadworks/logs/tomcat/TomcatOutputXX.log with this exception stack:

org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext listenerStart SEVERE: Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class [com.broadsoft.clients.oam.listener.NSPortalContextListener] java.lang.ClassCastException: com.broadsoft.clients.oam.locationapi.LocationServiceClientNSPortal$LocationServiceStats cannot be cast to com.broadsoft.locationservice.LocationServiceCore$StatsServiceEnhanced at com.broadsoft.locationservice.LocationServiceCore.<init>(LocationServiceCore.java:50) at com.broadsoft.clients.oam.locationapi.LocationServiceClientNSPortal.<init>(LocationServiceClientNSPortal.java:200) at com.broadsoft.clients.oam.listener.NSPortalContextListener.contextInitialized(NSPortalContextListener.java:77)

Background

Problem Symptom

All user location functions are disabled.

Workaround/Solution

BroadWorks patches can now be downloaded through the Cisco Software Download Center after logging in with your Cisco.com (CCO) account.

The version of BroadWorks that is currently deployed as well as the patches currently activated can be checked by executing the get versions all command from the CLI. More information on how to check the patch level can be found in the Cisco BroadWorks Maintenance Guide.

Workaround

Install the server patch AP.ns.22.0.1123.ap372024.

Patch AP374114 is now available to resolve this issue.
