Campus scale and performance for moving to a modern, cloud-managed wireless network

More and more organizations are moving to cloud-managed and cloud-enabled networking, for the ease of use, remote monitoring, and increased agility cloud systems offer IT teams. Wireless technology, as the access layer for most users and devices on a network, is usually the initial system organizations target for their transition from on-premises to cloud.

This transition can be difficult for large campus environments with separate teams controlling different layers of the access network. While wireless engineers may be ready for cloud-managed wireless, working across the different teams within the IT department (like the campus LAN team) to make a large architectural change can be daunting.

Modernizing the campus wireless network no longer means rip and replace. For IT teams who need a campus cloud wireless solution, the Cisco® Campus Gateway solution facilitates an easier transition to cloud management while retaining enterprise-level microservices and functionality.

Benefits

Enterprise-class cloud functionality enables transition from on-premises management while maintaining services and performance.

Seamless campus roaming at scale for large campus-ready cloud-managed wireless, for easier and more predictable connectivity for users, devices, and systems across multibuilding campuses.

Deployment without redesign of existing infrastructure design and cabling, for less upheaval and disruption to the LAN network.

Performance and scale for the large campus

Wireless networking should easily scale to provide connectivity for all users and devices. With Campus Gateway, your large campus network will have the infrastructure, security, and services that you need while giving your users and devices the seamless connectivity they demand.

Easy transition to cloud architecture

Cisco unified hardware platform makes deployment simple with a familiar architecture.

Onboarding and setup through the Cisco Meraki cloud dashboard is designed to make the most efficient use of IT team time and bandwidth.

High-availability (HA) clustering makes Campus Gateway a like-to-like solution to wireless networks managed by an on-premises controller.

Enhanced feature set for AI-enabled organizations.

Campus Gateway includes infrastructure features for enterprise wireless, such as VLAN pooling, tunnel configuration per SSID, load-balanced active-active HA, and more.

For security and services, Campus Gateway provides RADIUS proxy, traffic inspection and classification, and more to support intelligent and secure wireless functionality.

Beyond these, Campus Gateway complements campus networks that use the best Cisco wireless AI features, including AI-RRM, Intelligent Capture, and more.1
