Overview

BroadWorks Release 27 Availability and End of Maintenance for BroadWorks Release 24

Release 27 of the Cisco BroadWorks software is planned to be generally available in August, 2026. In accordance with our maintenance policy, this would signal the End of Maintenance (EOM) for BroadWorks Release 24 at the end of July 2026.

Like the Release 25 and Release 26 versions of the BroadWorks Application Server, the Release 27 version of the Application Server is “Release Independent” which means:

There will generally be a monthly release of the complete Application Server software binary.

The naming convention of the monthly releases will incorporate “R27” through July of 2027 to have a timeline for the N-2 support of R25.

The monthly release will not be patchable; changes will generally be incorporated in the next monthly release. See the “BroadWorks Release Independent Support Policy” document for more information.

New features are introduced in monthly releases as they are available.

Note that the AS R24 was the last server of the BroadWorks suite to still have a patch delivery mechanism, as all other servers were converted to RI over the years. With the introduction of R27 and the End of Life of R24, it means the patching delivery mechanism is no longer used, only the RI delivery mechanism is.

As always, customers must make sure the upgrade plans for their BroadWorks systems keeps them running the latest release, or at the very least, a fully supported release. This is important to ensure that systems are maintained with the most competitive features, latest security and platform updates.
