Gain top SAP performance for Microsoft SQL Server powering your SAP landscape, with Cisco UCS servers and AMD EPYC processors.

The combination of Cisco UCS servers powered by AMD EPYC processors is so powerful that Cisco has captured the number-one spot for SAP performance running Microsoft SQL Server on 2-socket servers. Now your organization can gain the best performance available by choosing Cisco UCS.

The Cisco UCS C245 M6 Rack Server with two AMD EPYC 7763 processors performed better than any other 2-socket server running Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and SQL Server 2017 on the SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark.1

Cisco UCS servers drive SAP performance

Equipped with 64-core AMD EPYC 7763 processors, Cisco servers deliver more SAP performance than all other 2-socket servers when running Microsoft SQL Server. We compared against the prior top-two results that use the same processor and memory configurations (Figure 1). The Cisco advantage is our architecture and close working relationships with AMD and Microsoft.

These record-setting benchmarks, not only for SAP Sales and Distribution, but also on industry-standard benchmarks, are a matter of excellent engineering. With power and cooling designed to support the fastest x86-architecture CPUs anywhere, you gain the best that 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors have to deliver. Firmware settings that control boost frequencies can be set as a matter of policy through the Cisco Intersight cloud-operations platform.

Footnotes

1.     The SAP Sales and Distribution result of 65,000 benchmark users and 358,600 SAPs was certified by SAP on September 21, 2022 and was the top result for 2-socket servers running Microsoft SQL Server on that date. The Cisco UCS C245 M6 server was equipped with two AMD EPYC 7763 CPUs each with 64 cores running at 2.45 GHz. The processors have 64 KB L1 cache per core plus 256 MB shared L3 cache per processor. The server was configured with 2 TB of main memory. The benchmark used Microsoft Windows Server 2019 with Microsoft SQL Server 2017. The tests used SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) 6.0. SAP Certification 2022022 is available to download as well.
