This section provides information about installing the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence operating system and application.

How to Install Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence
Complete the following procedures in the order shown:

Installing the Operating System

CautionThe server is reformatted during installation.
Before You Begin
•
Obtain the completed worksheet from the "Completing the Planning Worksheet" section on page 1-8.
•
Obtain the installation DVD.
Procedure
Step 1
Insert the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence DVD into the DVD-ROM drive.
Step 2
Boot the server from the DVD to begin installation.
Step 3
Carefully read the installation messages that display because the installer verifies that your server meets installation requirements and presents options to continue or abort installation, as needed.
Step 4
Leave the DVD in the DVD-ROM drive for later use after the operating system installation completes and the DVD ejects.
Step 5
Follow the prompts to reboot your server.
Step 6
Click Next when the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Welcome page displays.

Tip
If a dialog box is not visible, click Alt-Escape to bring it to the foreground.
Step 7
Enter values from your configuration worksheet when the Network Setup page appears and click Next.
Step 8
Set the Time zone on the Timezone page.
Step 9
Check the uses UTC box and click Next.
Step 10
Set the current date and time for the system on the Date and Time page.
Step 11
(Optional) Check Enable NTP to enable synchronization with a remote time server using Network Time Protocol.
Step 12
Click Next to begin installing the application.
Installing the Application

Tip
You can use the net command to change network configuration after installation. For CLI information, see the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Procedure
Step 1
Close the DVD-ROM drive when the system displays the Cisco Application DVD page and click Install....Wait a few minutes while the installer loads.
Step 2
Click Next after reading the introductory message.
Step 3
Choose I accept the terms of the License Agreement after reading the licensing agreement and click Next.
Step 4
Review the Current Network Settings page and complete one of the following steps:
a.
Enter the correct values and click Next.
or
b.
Click Next.
Step 5
Review the values on the Configure NIC Settings page and complete one of the following steps:
a.
Click On if your system uses Auto Negotiation and proceed to Step 7.
or
b.
Click Off if your system does not use Auto Negotiation and proceed to Step 6.
Step 6
Set the Speed (Full Duplex) and Duplex mode values and click Next.
Step 7
Create a Password root user when the installer prompts you and click Next.
Step 8
Create a Password mpxadmin user when the installer prompts you and click Next.
Step 9
Review the preinstallation summary and click Install. Installation takes between 7 and 25 minutes.
Step 10
Proceed to Step 11 when the Install Complete page appears.
or
Complete the following steps if an installation error message displays:
a.
Use the procedures in Chapter 4, "Uninstalling the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Application" to remove the application.
b.
Reboot the server.
c.
Install again the operating system and application.
d.
Review the MPX_version number_InstallLog.log in the /opt/cisco/meetingplace_telepresence/ directory to see the error messages.
Step 11
Click Done to complete installation.
Step 12
Remove the DVD when the DVD-ROM drive ejects it.
Step 13
Proceed to Step 15 after the server reboots if you changed the network settings.
or
Proceed to Step 14 if you did not change network settings.
Step 14
Click Next and Finish when the Cisco Application DVD page appears.
The operating system login page displays.
Step 15
Log in to as root by using the password you configured in Step 7.
or
Log in as mpxadmin by using the password you configured in Step 8.
The Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence operating system desktop displays.
Testing Network Configuration
Use this procedure to verify that there are no subnet configuration or routing problems and the server can resolve the hostname.
Procedure
Step 1
Go to another computer on the network and open a web browser.
Step 2
Enter the hostname for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence to verify that your system can resolve the hostname. The Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Log In page displays.
Step 3
Enter the IP address of Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence. The Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Log In page displays.
Step 4
Go to a computer on a different LAN within the corporate network and open a web browser.
Step 5
Enter the IP address of the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence server to verify that there are no subnet configuration or routing problems. The Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Log In page displays.
Step 6
Go to a computer outside your corporate network if you allow access from external locations.
Step 7
Enter the IP address of Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence server to verify that there are no firewall issues or external-to-internal connectivity problems.
Logging In to the Administration Center for the First Time
Use this procedure to log in to the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Administration Center for the first time. For information about the Administration Center, see the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Procedure
Step 1
Click the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence icon on the console desktop.
or
Open a web browser and enter the hostname or IP address of your Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence server.
Step 2
Enter the following information:

Username—admin
•
Password—cisco
Step 3
Click Log In. The Edit Profile page displays.

Note
We recommend that you change the default admin password immediately to secure your system; otherwise, the Edit Profile page appears at each log in.
Step 4
Enter and confirm a new password.
Step 5
Click Update Profile.
Step 6
Click Administration in the upper-left corner to display the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Administration Center Home page.
Completing the Preliminary Configuration Checklist
After you install the operating system and application, complete the tasks in Table 3-1 to use the Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence system.

(Optional) Obtain an SSL certificate and enable SSL.

Configure the AXL interface, meeting ID length, and quality default settings for system usage.

Synchronize with Cisco Unified CallManager to obtain Cisco TelePresence endpoint information.

Configure Video Administration logging.
See the "Managing Log Files" chapter in the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Log in and change the default password for Video Administration.
See the "Logging In" chapter in the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Add the MCU to Video Administration.
See the "Managing the MCU Connection" chapter in the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Download new meeting types from the MCU.
Note
We recommend that you delete the default TelePresence service on the MCU before downloading new meeting types if you do not plan to use it. For more information, see the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Videoconferencing 3500 MCU Release 5.2.1.

(Optional) Manually add end-user profiles to Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence.
See the "Configuring User Groups" and "Configuring User Profiles" chapters in the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
For Web Scheduling
Configure the SMTP server.
See the "Configuring the SMTP Server" chapter in the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Test system configuration by scheduling and attending a Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence meeting.
See the User Guide for Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence Version 1.1.
Provide log in information and documentation to end users.

For Microsoft Outlook Scheduling
Configure the Outlook plug-in.

Test system configuration by installing the plug-in and by scheduling and attending a Cisco Unified Conferencing for TelePresence meeting.
Deploy the Outlook plug-in to end users.

Provide login information and documentation to end users.
