This document describes how you config Cisco BroadWorks AS system level conferencing service to detect a joiner key in DTMF tone then send to other joiners.
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:
The are no specific requirements for this document.
This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, ensure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Historically on one hand, it seems that clamp tones can be omitted from those join requests sent to the MS that are sent on behalf of those services that were transitioned from RFC-4240 to the Cr interface in R20.0; in order to maintain DTMF pass-through parity for those services in previous releases (detailed in legacy Cisco BroadWorks document BW-ReleaseNotes-R200.pdf - section 2.18). On the other hand allowing DTMF to pass through the bridge can sometimes result in random/spurious DTMF digits being heard on N-way / bridge calls as a result of some SIP GWs inadvertently producing RFC2833 packets from short periods of DTMF frequencies in human speech. Ultimately it seems there can be some way for the user to control whether tones are clamped on their bridge calls or not.
Caution: By default the recommended setup is set confernceDisableClampTone to false. If you are keen to enable this feature option for customer system wide, then you need to tune up some MS system resource to handle it. Besides once you confernceDisableClampTone to true, if a user makes a mistake to press a phone key, it could be incorrectly to be detected as user select a DTMF option and the MS sends that tone to all other participants in the conferencing.
All 3 or N parties have negotiated with the same telephone event in the SIP negotiation yet certain party could not detect and receive one other participant key in DTMF tone.

Post troubleshooting to rule out other factors like SIP negotiation and packet drop, and other misconfigurations to accept DTMF Relay in the 3-way/N-way conferencing bridge, you check AS systme level paramter conferenceDisableClampTones has been set to false. Change this System level parameter conferenceDisableClapTones to true then the DTMF detection can be enabled in 3-way/N-way conferencing.
Note: In certain extreme situations, you need to restartbw AS (one at a time in a cluster) to overcome the possible delay due to CLI updates the configuration file but does not immediately update the running cache.
