Introduction
This document describes the recommended configuration settings and associated details for 16G Fiber Channel (FC) Interoperability (interop) between the 400G-XP Line Card in the Cisco NCS2K platform and the MDS-9710 switch.
Problem
This Cisco Optical Platform and Cisco MDS switch are described as reference for the 16G FC interop in the current document:
- Cisco ONS Platform: NCS2006 OR NCS2015 with 400G-XP line card
For Cisco interop qualified status and the recommended configuration settings on NCS2K and MDS platforms to ensure smooth interoperability, observe the solution provided.
Solution
NCS2K 400G Line Card Recommended Configuration
Starting with the release 10.6.2, the NCS2K-400G-XP card supported 16G Fiber Channel (16G-FC) payloads on its client ports.
In order to support the 16G-FC payload, a new Slice Op-Mode, OPM_6x16G_FC, has been introduced.
The OPM_6X16G_FC allows 16FC on ports 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The 400G line card mode and slice configuration steps are elaborated here.
For 400G-LC, these settings are recommended for client and trunk ports:
