    Introduction

    This document describes how to prevent the installation of the AnyConnect Secure Web Gateway module (SWG) module.

    Background Information

    Cisco announced the End-of-Life of Cisco AnyConnect in 2023. Cisco announced the End-of-Life for Umbrella Roaming Client on April 2, 2024, and the last date of support is April 2, 2025. Many Cisco Umbrella customers are already benefiting from migrating to Cisco Secure Client, and you are encouraged to begin migration as soon as possible to get a better roaming experience.     The Secure Web Gateway module (SWG) is installed along with the Roaming Security Module (you cannot separate the modules) in AnyConnect version 4.8 MR1+. The SWG module is enabled upon installation if your Cisco Umbrella license includes access to Secure Internet Gateway (SIG).

    Disable Secure Web Gateway

    Customers who do not want the SWG module to be enabled (default action) can disable the feature on their CiscoUmbrella dashboard under Deployments > Roaming Computers > Client Settings:
