When using the Splunk SOAR HTTP app to authenticate against an OAuth-based API, the default implementation may send credentials within the request body (e.g., client_credentials). Certain third-party APIs require the client_id and client_secret to be passed as a Base64-encoded Authorization: Basic header. If the API endpoint expects this header and does not receive it, it will return an HTTP 403 Forbidden error, preventing successful connectivity.
To resolve this issue, one of the following methods should be utilized:
Authorization header containing the Base64-encoded client credentials.requests library to handle the OAuth token request. This allows for full control over the headers and payload construction required by the third-party API.
