Introduction
This document explains why certain command lines defined in CLI add-on templates are no longer being pushed to SD‑WAN devices. Beginning with release 20.15, Cisco SD‑WAN adopts a new YANG model. As a result, when the SD‑WAN controller is upgraded to version 20.15 but the SD‑WAN devices remain on older software versions such as 17.12.x, some CLI add‑on template commands are no longer propagated to those devices.
Problem
You may observe that certain commands in the CLI add‑on templates no longer appear after upgrading the SD‑WAN controller to version 20.15 while the devices remain on version 17.12.x. The issue is resolved once the devices are upgraded to version 17.15 as well.
Solution
There are three options to resolve this issue:
-
Several defects related to different CLI statements can cause this behavior. Some of these defects have workarounds that can be applied while the devices are still running the older software version. If a workaround exists for the affected CLI statement, apply the workaround and push the template again.
-
Use a feature template instead of a CLI add‑on template.
-
Upgrade the devices to version 17.15.
