Before SAML authentication the following method is used to access REST API:
curl -u <username>:<password> https://hostname:8089/services/search/jobs
After enabling the SAML, the above method will no longer work for SAML user-based - Authentication and authorization.
There are two methods of authentication that can be used to access REST endpoints:
Token-based authentication is the recommended way to access REST API for SAML users.
The REST API/command lines will not work for the SAML users which is mentioned in the Troubleshoot SAML SSO documentation.
To use REST API with SAML, the users need to have token-based authentication configured.
