How can I enable Device-Led Conversion (DLC) in Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) deployment?

Introduction

This document provides a step-by-step guide for enabling the Device-Led Conversion (DLC) feature within your Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) deployment. Enabling DLC allows for the seamless conversion of traditional licenses to Smart Licenses.

Prerequisites

Before you start, ensure that you have the following:

• A Cisco Smart Account 

• A valid CCO User ID and Password that has access to the Smart Account or Virtual Account. 

• Admin Access to Cisco License On-Prem (CLP)

Steps

Step 1: Access the Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) portal at: https://<IP_Address>:8443/admin/#/mainview.

Step 2: Navigate to the Licensing workspace from the left-hand menu.

Step 3: Select the appropriate On-Prem Account from the On-Prem Account tab.

Step 4: Once the account is selected, additional tabs will appear in the left-hand menu. Navigate to the On-Prem Account Management Tab

Step 5: Under Settings select Device Led Conversion Settings. 

Step 6: Check the box labeled Enable device-led conversion to Smart license to activate the DLC feature.

Step 7: Select the required Virtual Accounts from the drop down menu to which the DLC should be enabled.

Step 8: Click Apply.

Step Results: The Device-Led Conversion feature is now enabled for the selected Virtual Account(s).

Q: Where can I view the log of all conversions that have occurred in the selected On-Prem Account?

A: You can access the logs by following these steps:

• Navigate to the Licensing workspace.

• Select the relevant On-Prem Account.

• Navigate to Event History.

• Select Smart License Conversion Log.
