How can I create a token in Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) deployment?

Introduction

This document provides a step-by-step guide for creating and managing registration tokens within the Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) portal.

Prerequisites

Before you start, ensure that you have the following:

  • A Cisco Smart Account.
  • A valid Cisco.com (CCO) User ID and password with access to the relevant Smart or Virtual Account.
  • Access to Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) Portal.

Steps

Creating a Token

Step 1: Access the Cisco License On-Prem (CLP) portal at: https://<IP_Address>:8443/admin/#/mainview.

Step 2: Navigate to the Licensing workspace from the left-hand menu.

Step 3: Select the appropriate On-Prem Account from the On-Prem Account tab.

Step 4: Once the account is selected, additional tabs will appear in the left-hand menu. Navigate to the Devices tab and select Configure Device and Token Management.

Step 5: You will be directed to the Configure Device and Token Management page, which provides a comprehensive view of all Token associated with the selected On-Prem account, including:

  • Token name 
  • Status 
  • Expiration date 
  • Uses remaining
  • Description
  • Local Virtual Account
  • Created by
  • Export-controlled feature

Step 6: Click Generate token in the top-right corner.

Step 7: Review the Token generation disclaimer and click Next.

Step 8: In the Add token details page:

  • Select the Local Virtual Account from the dropdown list.
  • Define the expiration parameters: Token expires after (days) and Token expires after (uses).
  • Click Next.

Note: You may select multiple virtual accounts to generate tokens in bulk.

Step 9: On the Review/Edit Token Details page, review all the information you’ve provided. You can either Delete the token creation process or Edit the details entered in the previous step, then click Generate Token.

Step Results: A confirmation message will be displayed.

Note: You can copy the token using the Copy button or download it using the Download icon in the row.

Mange Tokens

Copy Token

Step 1: Navigate to Licensing Workspace > Choose an On-Prem Account > Devices > Configure Device and Token Management.

Step 2: Locate the desired token using the search or filter options.

Step 3: Click the three-dot icon in the same row and select Copy token name from the dropdown menu.

Step Results: The Token will be copied.

Export Token

Step 1: Navigate to Licensing Workspace > Choose an On-Prem Account > Devices > Configure Device and Token Management.

Step 2: Locate the token you wish to export using the search or filter options.

Step 3: Click the three-dot icon in the row and select Export.

Step Results: The Token will be exported to your local drive.

Note: To export multiple tokens, select the checkboxes next to the desired tokens and click Export Selected.

Revoke Token

Step 1: Navigate to Licensing Workspace > Choose an On-Prem Account > Devices > Configure Device and Token Management.

Step 2: Locate the token you wish to revoke using the search or filter options. 

Step 3: Click the three-dot icon, and select Revoke.

Step 4: Confirm the action by clicking Revoke tokens in the pop-up window.

Step Result: The Token will be revoked.

Note: To revoke multiple tokens, select them via the checkboxes and use the More Action menu to select Revoke.

Delete Token

Step 1: Navigate to Licensing Workspace > Choose an On-Prem Account > Devices > Configure Device and Token Management.

Step 2: Use the Filters to display only Revoked or Expired tokens.

Step 3: Select the single or multiple tokens you wish to delete.

Step 4: Click More Action and select Delete.

Step Result: The Token will be deleted.

Note: Only revoked or expired tokens are eligible for deletion.
