Problem Description


A hardware component issue may cause the LCD screen of Cisco Desk Phone 9871 devices to flicker intermittently, eventually leading to a persistent black screen.


Background


Cisco Desk Phone 9871 devices may experience LCD flickering or go black due to an internal component failure.


Problem Symptom


The LCD screen of Cisco Desk Phone 9871 devices will start to flicker intermittently, eventually leading to a persistent black screen over time.


Workaround/Solution


Customers who are experiencing this issue should verify their unit's serial number using the Cisco Support Assistant. If the unit is identified as affected, open a service request with the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to initiate the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process for a replacement.
