| CSCwq38713 | MR-MXP with Equipment Degrade EQPT-DEGRADE alarm |
Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS) 2000 Series Multirate Muxponder line cards may report an EQPT-DEGRADE (equipment degrade) alarm when running Cisco NCS 2000 Series Software releases earlier than Release 11.1.4 or 25.1.1. This alarm may occur without any underlying hardware issues. It does not impact the functionality of the line card or of the Cisco NCS 2000 Series system.
The EQPT-DEGRADE alarm is triggered because Cisco NCS 2000 Series Software releases older than Release 11.1.4 or 25.1.1 in their respective trains do not recognize a new component on line cards that were manufactured with hardware revisions CLI showing K0 & J0, although that component has been qualified and approved by Cisco Engineering.
The following Multirate Muxponder line cards and hardware revisions are affected by this issue:
To verify the hardware revision, use the Inventory tab in Shelf View using the Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) application, or use TL1 commands directly on the device, as shown in the following image:
The following images from CTC Application show a sample EQPT-DEGRADE alarm from an affected Multirate Muxponder line card:

Refer to the HW Part # and Version ID columns in the following screenshot. In software releases older than Cisco NCS 2000 Series Software Release 11.1.4 or 25.1.1, an EQPT DEGRADE alarm is observed if the Multirate Muxponder line card hardware part is 800-40707-05 and the Version ID is (05).

A sample TL1 commands output collected from the device is shown below:
<<<<<< HWREV will be shown as K0 or J0
No service impact or degradation is associated with this alarm under the conditions described.
If the affected Multirate Muxponder line cards are running Cisco NCS 2000 Series Software releases older than Release 11.1.4 or 25.1.1, the EQPT-DEGRADE alarm can be safely ignored. No functional impact is observed.
This issue is resolved in Cisco NCS 2000 Series Software releases 11.1.4, 25.1.1, and later. Upgrading to one of these releases will prevent the alarm from being raised.
For a product to be affected by this issue, both of the following conditions must be true:
Condition 1: Cisco NCS 2000 Series Multirate Muxponder line cards that are manufactured after August 2025 have a hardware part (HW Part#) of 800-40707-05 and the Version ID (05).
Condition 2: EQPT-DEGRADE (Equipment Degrade) alarm is seen when running Cisco NCS 2000 Series Software releases older than Release 11.1.4 or 25.1.1.
