A few Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS) 2000 Series Shelf Virtualization Orchestrator (SVO) Line Cards might experience unpredictable results, become unreachable, or both when upgraded to software Release 25.1.1. Before upgrading to Release 25.1.1 or later, customers are required to replace Cisco NCS 2000 Series SVO Line Cards with the new hardware version.
Cisco NCS 2000 Series SVO Line Cards that are running on Release 12.3.1 can continue to operate until the customer decides to upgrade to a new release.
To enhance security and product segmentation, a new set of specific Cisco NCS 2000 Series SVO Line Card keys has been created, and as a result, a new hardware version of the line card has also been created. The product keys are used to validate software integrity and establish a secure trust root chain. Therefore, the upgrade cannot happen in the field but requires a full card replacement.
Cisco NCS 2000 Series SVO Line Cards that are running on releases earlier than 25.1.1 will continue to operate.
Before upgrading to software Release 25.1.1 or later, it is mandatory to replace the Cisco NCS 2000 SVO Line Cards with the new hardware version.
In-field software upgrades will not be directly supported, but a specific procedure for the line cards will be provided. Running software Release 25.1.1 or later from the SVO web UI 12.3.1 may lead to unpredictable results, such as losing the node management or physically removing the card from the chassis.
Cisco recommends replacing Cisco NCS 2000 Series SVO Line Cards with a hardware version lower than 06 before upgrading to software Release 25.1.1 or later. To determine if a serial number is affected, see the Serial Number Validation section of this field notice.
Cisco NCS 2000 Series devices that are running Release 12.3.1 have an SVO line card installed. The use of an SVO line card was mandatory with Release 12.3.1.
The graphical user interface is provided through the SVO web UI. To view line card's hardware version details, click Inventory in the top right of the page. Line cards with a hardware version lower than 06 are affected and must be replaced before upgrading to software Release 25.1.1.

Starting with Release 25.1.1, the application that is running on top of the SVO line card will be renamed Cisco Optical Site Manager. When the card replacement and software upgrade are complete, the graphical user interface will show the new name.

Provide the following information:
Order entry supports up to 50 serial numbers per request. For more than 50, submit additional requests.
For questions about order status, see the Field Notice Affected Hardware Replacement FAQ.
