CSCwo72269 | FM Devices will fail to connect to to RACER Service |
Beginning May 26, 2025, Cisco Ultra-Reliable Wireless Backhaul (CURWB), formerly Fluidmesh, products will no longer be able to connect to the RACER online service. Cisco will remotely trigger devices that remain connected to RACER into offline mode beginning May 19, 2025.
In addition, the partners.fluidmesh.com portal has been decommissioned along with RACER.
Fluidmesh RACER, previously accessible at partners.fluidmesh.com, was the online configuration utility for Cisco Fluidmesh (FM) devices. RACER has reached end of life. As a result, Cisco FM devices cannot connect starting May 26, 2025. Users who require online management of configuration for Cisco FM devices should migrate devices to the Cisco Industrial Wireless Service management tool (IW Service) on IoT Operations Dashboard.
After RACER has reached the end of life, access to the partner portal (user interface) and device endpoint API will be blocked.
Beginning May 19, 2025, Cisco will begin to remotely trigger FM devices that remain connected to RACER into RACER offline mode. Once in offline mode, devices will no longer attempt to reach out to RACER. This will prevent potential errant traffic from the devices. This change in mode will not affect device performance.
Configuration for devices in offline mode must be done locally on the device using the web UI or SSH CLI access.
Devices in provisioning or limbo mode (out of the box or factory reset) or in online mode after RACER reaches end of life will continue to periodically make DNS requests and HTTPS connections to partners.fluidmesh.com. Cisco plans to continue to resolve DNS records for this domain to facilitate user redirection to an informational page. Cisco Fluidmesh devices use SSL pinning for the device connection and will fail to connect.
Solution
User intervention is not required, but users may choose to preemptively change devices to offline mode or migrate devices.
To change to offline mode, choose RACER from the web UI and then choose offline mode, as shown in the following figure. This does not require a reboot.
Migrating Cisco Fluidmesh devices to Cisco IW Service requires updating the devices to the latest firmware release as shown in the following table:
Cisco FM Model | First Fixed Firmware Release |
---|---|
FMx200 | 8.8 |
FMx500 | 9.6 |
FMVOLO | 7.11 |
FMPONTE | 1.2.8 |
FM1000 | 1.7.0 |
FM1000 GEN1 | 1.7.0 |
FM1000 GEN2 | 2.4.0 |
Download the latest release of from the Cisco Software Center. Search and choose Ultra-Reliable Wireless Backhaul, and then choose the proper Cisco FM device.
For more information, see Migrate to IW Service.
Note: No license is required for IW Service.
To determine if a device is online, connect to the web UI. The status of the RACER connection is shown in the top left of the interface.
