A limited number of Cisco Coherent Interconnect Module 8 (CIM8-C) Modules that use a digital signal processor (DSP) that may experience small, random, uncorrected errors. For information about which Cisco CIM8-C products are affected, see the Products Affected section of this field notice.
Due to timing violations, a limited number of DSPs may report Line Rx post-forward error correction (FEC) errors and ingress and egress client traffic corruption, resulting in uncorrectable post-FEC block errors even though there is a positive Q margin. Errors may be flagged by a remote monitoring (RMON) or performance monitoring (PM) counter and/or may only be detectable by a connected router. It is also possible to have valid traffic but incorrect RMON and PM reporting.
Affected units may show uncorrected errors at random during operation.
Cisco recommends replacing affected units with the new version. To determine if a serial number is affected, see the Serial Number Validation section of this field notice.
In order to verify if your product is affected by this issue, use the Cisco Support Assistant (CSA) to validate the serial number for your device(s). The serial number for the affected device(s) should be included in the form in this field notice.
The Cisco Support Assistant (CSA) can help verify whether a device is impacted by the issue that is described in this Field Notice. To check the device, either enter the serial number in the CSA on the right side of this page or click the following URL: https://cs.co/FNSNV.
