||WSA X90 platforms adminpassword recovery fails|
The Admin user login password recovery procedure, provided by the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC), fails for the x90 hardware platform Web Security Appliance (WSA). This results in the need for a Return Material Authorization (RMA).
In the case of a lost password for an Admin user login to a WSA, the Cisco TAC can provide a step-by-step password recovery process. This password recovery process fails for an x90 hardware platform WSA that runs AsyncOS Version 9.x. This results in the need of an RMA.
The x90 hardware platform includes:
The Admin user login to the WSA fails as a result of a lost password. No other Admin users that can be used to gain access to reset the lost password exist on the appliance.
In order to avoid the potential need for an RMA, Cisco strongly recommends that any x90 hardware platform WSA that runs AsyncOS Version 9.x is upgraded to AsyncOS Version 10.1.x or later.
As a workaround until the upgrade has been completed, Cisco recommends that you have more than one Admin user on the appliance. This prevents a loss of access to the appliance should the password for one of the Admin users be lost.
