CSCuv69879 | AIR-ANT2568VG-N Outdoor Antenna Leaks Due to Inadequately Sealed Radome |
The subject outdoor antenna product might be inadequately sealed in order to prevent moisture intrusion into the assembly when deployed under normal environmental conditions specified for the product.
The moisture point of ingress has been isolated to the joint between the radome and radio frequency (RF) connector base of symptomatic antenna assemblies. Failure analysis has found that an insufficient application of sealant between the bonding surfaces associated with this joint might allow moisture to be drawn inside the radome of the antenna assembly. Variations in ambient atmospheric conditions might cause the moisture to condense and accumulate inside the radome over time.
Symptomatic units will have observable amounts of moisture accumulate inside the radome of the antenna assembly over time. The quantity and rate of moisture accumulation inside the radome is heavily dependent upon the specific ambient atmospheric conditions associated with deployed units. If sufficient amounts of moisture accumulate inside the radome of the antenna assembly, the RF performance might become severely degraded.
A new version of the subject outdoor antenna product has been developed in order to eliminate the potential for moisture intrusion since it maintains seal integrity when deployed under all environmental conditions specified for the product.
Cisco Systems will replace all units of the impacted version of the subject outdoor antenna product if they fail.
Request an RMA through your normal support process for Fix on Failure.
The impacted version of the subject outdoor antenna product has an identification label affixed to the exterior of the radome near the RF connector base of the antenna assembly. The top of the label is printed with this Cisco Product Identification (PID) number and antenna RF characteristics:
AIR-ANT2568VG-N
2.4-2.5, 5.25-5.925GHz 6.0/8.0dBi Omni
An example drawing of the label on the impacted version of the subject outdoor antenna product is shown here:
The new version of the subject outdoor antenna product will have a new identification label affixed to the exterior of the radome near the RF connector base of the antenna assembly. The top of the new label will also include the Cisco Part Number (CPN) printed in-between the aforementioned PID and antenna RF characteristics as shown here:
AIR-ANT2568VG-N
07-1290-02
2.4-2.5, 5.25-5.925GHz 6.0/8.0dBi Omni
Note that the addition of the CPN shown is highlighted in yellow for reference only and is not highlighted in the actual printed label affixed to the new version of the subject outdoor antenna product.
An example drawing of the new label on the new version of the outdoor antenna product is shown here:
