| CSCuo85100 | Fix for ASR 901 1G Platform rebooting automatically below -20 degree Celsius (-4 degree Fahrenheit) |
Cisco has identified an issue with the 901 1G Series Aggregation Services Router (ASR) platforms (listed in the Products Affected section) that run Cisco IOS® Versions 15.4(1)S, 15.4(1)S1, or 15.4(2)S. This issue causes the system to become stuck in a continuous reboot cycle at temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit).
Cisco recommends that you upgrade the software to one of the latest Cisco IOS versions (15.4(1)S2, 15.4(2)S1, or later releases). Refer to the Workaround/Solution section for details about the recommended Cisco IOS versions, based on the version that your ASR 901 1G platform currently runs.
Note: This issue only impacts the products that are listed in the Products Affected section. The 901 10G Series ASR platforms (A901-6CZ-F-A, A901-6CZ-F-D, A901-6CZ-FS-A, A901-6CZ-FS-D, A901-6CZ-FT-A, and A901-6CZ-FT-D) as well as the 901S Series ASR platforms (A901S-3SG-F-D, A901S-3SG-F-D, and A901S-4SG-F-D) are not impacted by this issue.
The affected products that run Cisco IOS Versions 15.4(1)S, 15.4(1)S1, or 15.4(2)S have an issue with the micro-controller version that causes the board sensor to read the temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) incorrectly. This causes the routers to become stuck in a continuous reboot cycle.
This issue is resolved in the latest Cisco IOS versions (15.4(1)S2, 15.4(2)S1, and later versions).
The affected products that encounter this issue raise a false alarm at temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit), followed by a continuous reboot of the router.
The latest Cisco IOS versions are available as a solution to this issue.
If you have installed in your network one of the ASR 901 1G platforms that currently runs a Cisco IOS version that is listed in the next table, and if the router or Cisco IOS version is impacted by this issue, then Cisco recommends that you upgrade to the corresponding Cisco IOS version.
