A vulnerability in the Do Not Decrypt exclusion feature of the SSL decryption feature of Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected device.
This vulnerability is due to improper memory management during the inspection of TLS 1.2 encrypted traffic. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted TLS 1.2 encrypted traffic through an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause a reload of an affected device.
Note: This vulnerability only affects traffic that is encrypted by TLS 1.2. Other versions of TLS are not affected.
Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

Vulnerable Products
At the time of publication, this vulnerability affected Cisco devices if they were running a vulnerable release of Cisco Secure FTD Software and had a Do Not Decrypt exception configured for an SSL decryption policy.

Determine SSL Decryption Policy Configuration
To determine if an SSL Decryption Policy includes a Do Not Decrypt exception, see the SSL Decryption chapter of the Firepower Device Manager Configuration Guide or the Decryption Policies chapter of the Firewall Management Center Configuration Guide, depending on which software manages the device in question.
Products Confirmed Not Vulnerable
Only products listed in the Vulnerable Products section of this advisory are known to be affected by this vulnerability.
Cisco has confirmed that this vulnerability does not affect the following Cisco products:
- Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software
- Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software

There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

Cisco considers any workarounds and mitigations (if applicable) to be temporary solutions until an upgrade to a fixed software release is available. To fully remediate this vulnerability and avoid future exposure as described in this advisory, Cisco strongly recommends that customers upgrade to the fixed software indicated in this advisory.
