Is Cisco Spaces Act or Cisco Spaces Unlimited right for me?

At this time, both offers have the same features, so you can buy either one depending on your needs. The Cisco Spaces Unlimited license is recommended if you are using Cisco Smart Workspaces apps and plan on integrating multiple Cisco technologies into the application. If you are using Cisco Spaces for wireless-only use cases, the Cisco Spaces Act device-based metering model may be more cost-efficient, especially when purchased as an add-on to Cisco DNA Advantage.

To help you make the transition to a Cisco Spaces Unlimited subscription, you will be able to trade in your existing Cisco Spaces Act licenses for Cisco Unlimited licenses through July 31, 2023. Specific instructions on how to execute this swap across the different licensing models will be available shortly. Contact your account manager for details.

Cisco Spaces Act or Cisco Spaces Unlimited right for me

Benefits

The Cisco Spaces Unlimited subscription allows you to connect an unlimited number of Cisco devices to Cisco Spaces in a licensed building area (building unit). Devices include Cisco Catalyst and Meraki wireless access points, Cisco Catalyst switches, and collaboration endpoints. Cisco devices that may be integrated in the future will also be covered. Building unit licensing provides many advantages:

Aligns with typical industry pricing and licensing models, budgeting, and value metrics.

Significantly lowers the cost for moderate- to high-density deployments with multiple Cisco technologies connected to Cisco Smart Workspaces.

Enables Cisco Spaces Act features for each Cisco device without incremental license costs. With the Cisco Spaces Unlimited subscription, there is no need to pay for a Cisco Spaces Act license for every device you add to Cisco Spaces. The features of Cisco Spaces Act and Cisco Spaces Unlimited are the same. The only difference is the metering model, which is building unit-based for Cisco Spaces Unlimited versus device-based for Cisco Spaces Act.

Building units defined for Cisco Spaces Unlimited

Building units are “slabs” of 10,000 square feet or 930 square meters. Building units simplify licensing and transactions.

Not specific to a specific measurement system (you can calculate required building units in square feet or square meters)

Simplifies license entitlement and enforcement by not requiring exact square footage

No need to track, manage, and add multiple licenses for each device added to Cisco Spaces in a given building
