Centralized management and remote access to connected assets helps organizations improve responsiveness, efficiency and security.
Connecting and managing industrial assets, ranging from traffic signage to equipment at solar farms and wind farms is increasingly important and a key focus of critical infrastructure investment. The promises of digitization at the industrial edge are many. They include improved operational efficiency, better customer experiences, and enhanced business agility and sustainability.
For the benefits of digitization to be realized, operations teams need tools that allow them to minimize downtime and improve efficiency. They need to be able to maintain remote assets at scale without time-consuming and costly site visits. And solutions need to be simple and intuitive to use, without requiring extensive IT or networking expertise. In some cases operations teams may need to provide access to third parties in order to carry out upgrades or troubleshoot issues, and this access needs to be secure, and compliant with IT policies.
IoT Operations Dashboard and Secure Equipment Access
IoT Operations Dashboard is a cloud-based IoT services platform designed to enable operations teams to remotely connect, maintain and gain insights from distributed industrial assets, such as such as traffic signal controllers, in-vehicle dispatch systems and equipment in hard-to-reach locations like wind farms and solar farms. With one comprehensive view of all their connected industrial assets, operations teams can manage connectivity and uncover valuable insights that help them streamline operations and drive business continuity.
IoT Operations Dashboard provides a range of value-added services which enable operations teams to manage connectivity and gain insights from connected assets without the need for deep networking expertise, helping organizations to streamline operations and drive business continuity.
Secure Equipment Access is a service in IoT Operations Dashboard offering the following capabilities:
● The ability to remotely maintain and upgrade any IP-connected assets, securely.
● Role-based access for anyone, inside or outside your organization to your industrial assets.
● Easy-to-use configuration tools for your operations team to define and manage credentials.
● Ability to access connected assets using just a browser or a direct secure connection between application software on the user’s computer and the asset.
Secure Equipment Access in IoT Operations Dashboard helps you securely manage connected assets from anywhere
Secure Equipment Access to industrial assets from anywhere
Secure Equipment Access in IoT Operations Dashboard makes it easier for IT to enable operations teams to manage remote connected assets without the need for deep networking expertise. It provides flexible access for remote configuration and maintenance of industrial assets in distributed locations while minimizing security risk. It enables operations teams to securely manage role-based access for internal employees and external workers and easily ensure that any employee or 3rd parties have access only to what they need, securely. For example, when issue resolution needs assistance from an external partner, operations staff can provide access for the partner with just a few clicks. IT no longer needs to take the time to configure complex VPNs or risk an operations worker accidentally providing access to an external vendor in an insecure way.
Most types of industrial asset can be easily accessed using just a browser without the need for any additional software on the worker’s laptop.
Additionally, workers can use native applications on their workstations to interact directly with remote industrial assets. This provides a direct, secure connection from their desktop to the remote industrial asset. Workers can fully configure assets, transfer files to connected assets, and upload logs and other local files from those assets.
No matter how they choose to access a connected asset, each user’s access is always fully authenticated and secure. Operations teams can easily manage, control and scale access for internal and external third-party workers to maintain connected industrial assets securely. Organizations benefit from increased asset uptime and a reduced need for expensive on-site visits.
