In order to fulfill our goal of modernizing Rio de Janeiro, it’s vital that the city’s youth be exposed to the latest technologies.
To this end, we are partnering with the Secretary of Science and Technology and the existing Community Centers in the Triagem neighborhood of Rio. The Triagem Community Center is designed to provide professional training, employment, and income generation in the IT industry for Rio’s youth.
A host of media joined Cisco Brazil Managing Director Rodrigo Dienstmann, Sales Development Manager Rodrigo Uchoa, Sustainability Manager Tania Braga, Rio’s Secretary for Science and Technology Franklin Coelho and former NBA All-Star Detlef Schrempf at the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony. There, Coelho spoke about the importance of center as a place that can virtually connect disadvantage youth to the entire world.
The center is part of the Rio 2016 Abraça Sustainability program, for which Cisco is the first official partner. The initiative is designed to provide digital inclusion and labor market integration for nearby youth.
“The partnership between Cisco and Rio 2016 allows the city of Rio de Janeiro to build a social legacy, including training our youth for the IT industry,” Coelho says."
