Cisco and Qatar’s Leading ICT Company Demonstrating How Internet of Everything Will Impact Region’s Diverse Market Sectors

DOHA, Qatar - 09 December 2014 - Cisco and Ooredoo Qatar are bringing the Internet of Everything (IoE) to life at ITU Telecom World in Doha, demonstrating connectivity across a number of market sectors including healthcare, retail, and sports.

Cisco is presenting demonstrations at Ooredoo’s Stand 7210.

On the opening day, the official delegation of H.E Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister; H.E Hessa Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, ictQATAR; H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman, Ooredoo; Dr Hamadoun Touré, Secretary General, ITU, visited the stand, being welcomed by Mohammad Hammoudi, General Manager, Cisco Qatar, who also stressed the importance of ICT security.

The IoE – the networked connection of people, processes, data and things – is transforming industries, countries, and communities and creating a global economic opportunity of USD 19 trillion to 2022, according to Cisco.

Demonstrating how the Middle East can leverage the IoE to drive new smart experiences, Cisco predicts the Middle East and Africa’s Internet traffic will grow 5.5-fold from 2013-2018. At 96.4 percent, Qatar has the second-highest level of household broadband penetration of developing countries worldwide, according to the UN Broadband Commission “State of Broadband 2014” report.
