New Cisco DNA Center navigational features.

Cisco DNA Center supports new GUI navigational features. You can now access the Cisco DNA Center platform from the Menu icon () located at the upper left of the home page. Click the icon to open a slide-in pane with a navigational link to Cisco DNA Center platform.

Navigation using the new GUI is documented in the Cisco DNA Center platform procedures throughout this guide.

Cisco DNA Center platform support for audit logs.

Cisco DNA Center platform now captures the following user actions in audit logs:

  • Actions to configure, enable, and disable any Cisco DNA Center platform bundle.

  • Actions to create, update, schedule, download, or delete any reports in Cisco DNA Center.

  • Actions to subscribe to any events or notifications.

  • Actions to create, update, and change any preference for an instance.

  • Actions to invoke both successful and unsuccessful API methods (POST / PUT/ GET / DELETE).

See the Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center Administrator Guide for information about the audit logs.

Cisco DNA Center platform support for role-based access control support (RBAC).

The Cisco DNA Center platform supports RBAC for the following features and functionality:

  • APIs

  • Bundles

  • Events

  • Reports

As a user with a SUPER-ADMIN-ROLE, you can create custom roles with deny, read, or write permissions for these features. Click System > User & Roles > Role Based Access Control to access the GUI workflow to create a custom role.

The NETWORK-ADMIN-ROLE and the OBSERVER-ROLE have more limited and restricted capabilities with Cisco DNA Center platform. For example, these two roles do not permit the user to perform the following actions:

  • Generate reports

  • Subscribe to events

  • Configure event settings

  • Enable and configure bundles

  • Configure users and roles

See the Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center Administrator Guide for information about managing users and their roles.

New Cisco DNA Center platform bundle to support enhanced CMDB synchronization.

With this Cisco DNA Center release, you can schedule a synchronization or trigger an update between your ITSM (ServiceNow) configuration management database (CMDB) and endpoint inventory. Endpoint attribute information from ServiceNow can be used to help profile endpoints in your network. ServiceNow appears in the endpoint profiling workspace as an additional probe. You may create custom profiling rules leveraging the attributes sent by ServiceNow.

Mapping between the CMDB fields and endpoint attributes occur at the platform level. This is accomplished using the new Endpoint Attribute Retrieval with ITSM (ServiceNow) bundle.

See the Cisco DNA Center ITSM Integration Guide for information about the new CMDB synchronization features.

New ITSM (ServiceNow) events retry mechanism.

In the Runtime Dashboard window, you can select an ITSM event to resend it to the ITSM (ServiceNow) for reprocessing.

See Chapter 8, Runtime Dashboard for information about the new ITSM (ServiceNow) events retry mechanism.

New Cisco DNA Center Reports features.

New Reports features including:

  • New Reports GUI for workflow-based scheduling and reporting.

  • Support to visualize generated reports within the Cisco DNA Center GUI.

  • Support to send out the report as an attachment to an email.

  • Support to send out the report via a webhook.

  • New option select the date and time range for a report.

  • New option to choose the timezone for a custom report or a report to be generated in the future.

See Chapter 7, Developer Toolkit GUI for information about the new data and time reporting features.

New Cisco DNA Center platform events.

This Cisco DNA Center platform release supports new events for the following:

  • Network applications

  • Network wireless

  • Hardware system

  • External system

See Chapter 7, Developer Toolkit GUI for information about events. For a list of the new events, see the Release Notes for Cisco DNA Center Platform.

New Cisco DNA Center platform SNMP event notification type.

This Cisco DNA Center platform release supports a new event notification type: SNMP. You are now able to subscribe to an event using the following three notification types:

  • REST API endpoint

  • Email

  • SNMP trap

    Note

The SNMP trap notification is only available for a system hardware event. A system hardware event publishes notifications to any subscriber, when the health state of hardware components change. Hardware components monitored for changes include: CPU, Memory, Disk, NIC, fan, power supply, and RAID Controller.

See Chapter 7, Developer Toolkit GUI for information about the new event notification type.

New Cisco DNA Center platform events simulation feature.

This Cisco DNA Center platform release supports a new event simulation feature. With an event simulation, you can try out and test an event's subscription (email, REST API, or SNMP trap notification). After running the event simulation, the results (success or failure) are displayed in the GUI.

See Chapter 7, Developer Toolkit GUI for information about the new event simulation support.

New GUI locations (Settings).

In the Cisco DNA Center GUI, click the Menu icon () and choose System > Settings > External Services > Destinations to access new locations for the following features:

  • Webhook

  • Email

Click System > Settings > Events and Subscriptions to access the new location for Event Catalog.

See the Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center Administrator Guide for information about the new Settings locations and features.

New and updated Cisco DNA Center platform APIs.

The following new and updated APIs are supported by the Cisco DNA Center platform:

  • Updated NFV Profile APIs. To access the updated APIs using the GUI, choose Platform > Developer Toolkit > APIs > Site Management > Site Design.

  • New event retry APIs for an ITSM (ServiceNow) event. To access the new APIs using the GUI, click Platform > Developer Toolkit > APIs > Ecosystem Integrations > ITSM.

See the Release Notes for Cisco DNA Center Platform.
