Objective

This article will explain the LED pattern for a normal boot on Cisco Business Wireless 150AX access points (APs). These APs use the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology.

Applicable Devices | Firmware Version

  • CBW150AX AP | 10.2.2.0
  • CBW151AXM Mesh Extender | 10.2.2.0

Introduction

The major new feature for this series of Cisco Business Wireless APs is the implementation of 802.11ax, using Wi-Fi 6.  These new Access Points provide improved performance by increasing the efficacy of the network and its ability to manage higher numbers of devices.

These APs will take several minutes to load, so be patient.

These APs are not compatible with the previous CBW series that include 140AC, 145AC, and 240AC AP, or the 141ACM, 142ACM, and 143ACM Mesh Extenders.

CBW150AX LED Normal Boot

Boot Phase LED Color Progress
1 White PoE cable plugged in
2 Blinking Green Initial boot
3 Red, Green, off Radio initialized and waiting on uplink IP
4 Green, Red, off Uplink IP initialized, CAPWAP initialized, discovery of existing network.
5 Blinking Blue Firmware version mismatch, loading new firmware and will reboot. This step is skipped if not needed.
6 Solid Green CAPWAP initialized and booted. Joined to the network. No Clients Connected.
7 Solid Blue At least one client connected to the AP.

CBW151AXM LED Normal Boot

Boot Phase LED Color Progress
1 White PoE cable plugged in
2 Blinking Green Initial boot
3 Red, Green, off Initial power on. Starting mesh and searching for parent.
4 Green, Red, off IP Assigned. CAPWAP Initialized
5 Blinking Blue Parent joined, firmware version check and upgrade (if needed).
6 Solid Green Mesh AP version matched. Joined to Primary AP. No clients connected.
7 Solid Blue At least one client connected to the AP.
