This document describes which IP protocols Umbrella Cloud Delivered Firewall (CDFW) can support and the impact of unsupported protocols.
Overview
Umbrella Cloud Delivered Firewall (CDFW) supports only TCP, UDP, and ICMP traffic sent to and from the internet. CDFW silently drops all other protocols from the IP protocol suite without logging these drops in the Umbrella dashboard.
Impacts of Unsupported Protocols
- Applications that use a layer 4 protocol other than TCP, UDP, or ICMP can fail when sending traffic through CDFW.

- You can check the IP protocol number by inspecting the Protocol field in the layer 3 (IPv4 or IPv6) header using Wireshark.
