    Introduction

    This article describes the extension of the DNS content categories migration deadline to October 28, 2022.

    Overview

    As part of Umbrella's Content Categories Alignment with Cisco Talos, all DNS policies that use a legacy Cisco Umbrella content category must be migrated to use only aligned Cisco Talos content categories.

    The deadline for this required action has been extended to October 28, 2022. This change was made in response to the unexpected issues that some customers experienced at the beginning of the migration period in early February when attempting to migrate policies.

    On October 31, 2022, all DNS policies that still contain legacy Umbrella categories are to be automatically migrated to the best available matching Talos categories. Legacy categories are to be removed from all policies at that time.

    Since there is not an exact 1:1 match between Umbrella and Talos content categories, we strongly encourage customer's to review the changes and how it affects your organization's policies by using the Categories Migration Tool (available in DNS Policies) and the Migration Report (within the Tool).
